The Philadelphia Eagles advanced to the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs after a 22-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles now await the winner of the Minnesota-Los Angeles game in Arizona.
Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, also known as “Big Play Slay,” achieved his first career postseason interception during Sunday’s game, marking his first in 17 playoff contests. “We all do our jobs and I just had a chance to get my hands on the ball and I made the play,” Slay stated. The Eagles defense managed three interceptions against Green Bay, with quarterback Jordan Love’s first giveaway occurring after 409 offensive snaps. “We’ve been taking the football away and we want that to continue,” added Slay.
Rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell was targeted six times, allowing only two catches for ten yards and securing an interception. His performance led Head Coach Nick Sirianni to commend his “dawg mentality.”
Running back Saquon Barkley delivered a notable debut playoff performance for the Eagles with 119 rushing yards, marking his first 100-yard rushing game in postseason play. Most of Barkley’s success came from running behind left tackle Jordan Mailata and left guard Landon Dickerson.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts achieved a passer rating of 111.1, completing ten out of twelve passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns without pressure. “I think the biggest takeaway for me is taking advantage of those opportunities when the defense gives us the ball back,” Hurts commented.
Tight end Dallas Goedert continued his strong playoff performances by securing a receiving touchdown, making him second in Eagles’ postseason history with four touchdowns. His contribution included a notable 24-yard catch-and-run featuring three stiff arms.
Kicker Jake Elliott remained perfect in postseason field goals, successfully converting all three attempts during Sunday’s game.
The Eagles’ defense held their opponent to 20 or fewer points for nine out of their last ten games. Wide receiver Jahan Dotson opened scoring with a touchdown reception following Oren Burks forcing a fumble on kickoff return, recovered by Jeremiah Trotter Jr., setting up an early lead they maintained throughout.
“I’ve felt comfortable ever since I learned the playbook,” Dotson said regarding his performance that contributed to setting up key plays early in the game.
