The Philadelphia Eagles have opened the practice window for safety Marcus Epps, who was placed on Injured Reserve following the team’s Week 8 win over the New York Giants on October 26. Epps has contributed primarily on special teams this season and played 15 defensive snaps. His return adds depth to the roster, especially as rookie Andrew Mukuba remains on Injured Reserve.

Currently, Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown are the only safeties listed on the active roster. Last week, Andre’ Sam was elevated from the practice squad for the game against the Chicago Bears.

Epps entered the league as a sixth-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 and appeared in eight games before being claimed by Philadelphia off waivers. He became a full-time starter for the Eagles in 2022 and helped lead the team to a Super Bowl appearance. After his time with Philadelphia, Epps joined the Las Vegas Raiders and later signed with the New England Patriots in 2025. He was released during final roster cuts but rejoined Philadelphia’s practice squad before being promoted to the main roster after Week 3.

Additionally, veteran defensive back Parry Nickerson has been released from the Eagles’ practice squad. The sixth-year player from Tulane participated in five games for Philadelphia this season. Nickerson was previously promoted to the active roster ahead of Week 4 against Tampa Bay and saw significant playing time in Week 8 versus New York before being released and returning to the practice squad. He also spent time with Philadelphia’s practice squad during their run to Super Bowl LIX in 2024.
