The Philadelphia Eagles have started the NFL season with two consecutive wins, defeating the Dallas Cowboys in their opening game and following up with a 20-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Despite some imperfections in both games, the team stands at 2-0 as they prepare to face another undefeated opponent, the Los Angeles Rams.
Head Coach Nick Sirianni emphasized the importance of focusing on steady improvement early in the season. “Our job, especially early in the season, is, and what I’ve said constantly to the team, is find a way to win, take pride in winning any way that you possibly can,” Sirianni said after Sunday’s win. “Work to get better throughout the week. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. We have to keep getting better.
“I think that when you come off a season like we came off of last year, I think the expectation is that you’re going to pick up right where you left off. There are steps to this, right? There are steps for all the teams that are playing right now and there’s steps to get better. As you’re getting better, our goal is to play our best football by the end of the year, as you’re getting better, find ways to win. Get better, and then repeat.”
The team returned home late Sunday night and quickly resumed preparations for their next matchup by reviewing game film and evaluating every aspect of their performance.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts highlighted how important it is for players to focus on what it takes to win each week: “Finding a way to win is something you have to take pride in,” Hurts said after improving his record as a starter to 48-20 and helping secure his 16th straight victory when starting and finishing a game for Philadelphia. “Take pride in winning, one, and take pride in what is required to win.”
Looking back at previous seasons such as 2017 and 2024 provides context for this year’s start; both years saw early setbacks followed by long winning streaks leading up to Super Bowl victories for Philadelphia.
While acknowledging there are areas needing improvement across multiple facets of play—topics being addressed during meetings at NovaCare Complex—the Eagles remain focused on building trust within their locker room through hard work and consistent effort each week.
The organization continues its approach of incremental progress throughout September rather than seeking immediate perfection or reacting strongly to outside commentary.
