Washington defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 24-17 at Lincoln Financial Field in the final game of the 2025 regular season. The Eagles finished with an 11-6 record and secured the No. 3 seed for the upcoming NFC playoffs, where they will host San Francisco next weekend.

The Eagles rested most of their starters during this matchup, facing Washington’s starting lineup. DeVonta Smith played only through the first quarter but reached his goal of 1,000 receiving yards for the season after catching three passes for 52 yards. Smith has now surpassed this milestone in three of his five seasons with Philadelphia and is healthy heading into the postseason.

Second-year linebacker Jalyx Hunt made a notable play by intercepting a pass while dropping into coverage, highlighting his growth as a player who led the team with 6.5 sacks and collected three interceptions during the regular season.

Running back Tank Bigsby started in place of Saquon Barkley and rushed for 75 yards on 16 carries, also adding a significant gain in the passing game. The offensive line featured several young players due to injuries and rest decisions; rookies Drew Kendell and Cameron Williams saw extended action as did Matt Pryor, Brett Toth, and Fred Johnson.

Rookie wide receiver Darius Cooper caught three passes for 33 yards and contributed as a blocker. Quarterback Tanner McKee made his first start of the season, completing 21 of 40 passes for 241 yards with one touchdown and one interception while facing heavy blitz pressure from Washington’s defense.

On defense, Jalyx Hunt stood out again with both an interception and fumble recovery. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. recorded twelve tackles while defensive coordinator Vic Fangio increased pressure throughout much of the game.

Other contributors included Joshua Uche in pass rush situations, Jihaad Campbell who tallied ten tackles, Kylen Granson who had four receptions for thirty yards, and Michael Carter II who was active around the ball.

Reflecting on playoff prospects after missing out on a higher seed due to Detroit’s win over Chicago, it was noted: “The Eagles are healthy going into the playoffs and that was the goal… The only thing that matters: Beat San Francisco in the Wild Card Playoff Round and then see how it looks.”
