The Philadelphia Eagles held their Public Practice at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, attracting a sold-out crowd. The defense stood out during the competitive team periods, limiting the offense’s success.
One of the notable moments occurred when DeVonta Smith caught a touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts on a deep throw to the right side of the end zone. Smith also secured a fourth down reception later in practice. Rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell had two strong plays against Smith, including breaking up a pass.
Linebacker Jihaad Campbell recorded two would-be sacks of Hurts, showing speed and timing on delayed rushes. On Campbell’s second sack, Hurts lost control of the ball while attempting a throw; Nolan Smith intercepted it and returned it for a defensive touchdown. Smith also registered an earlier “sack” in practice.
Defensive lineman Moro Ojomo batted down one of Hurts’ passes at the line and added another sack. Running back Will Shipley was active in the passing game, making multiple catches for significant gains.
Jahan Dotson made an impressive sideline catch, maintaining possession and keeping his feet in bounds. Tight end Dallas Goedert also contributed with a tip-toe catch along the sideline while covered by Mitchell.
Other defensive highlights included Jeremiah Trotter Jr.’s blitz leading to a would-be sack, Joshua Uche’s tackle for loss and pressure plays, Sydney Brown’s end zone pass breakup targeting Goedert, Smael Mondon’s blitz sack, and tight coverage by Tariq Castro-Fields with another pass breakup.
All proceeds from ticket sales for Sunday’s event went to the Eagles Autism Foundation. The Foundation supports autism research and care programs through fundraising efforts such as its annual Eagles Autism Challenge presented by Lincoln Financial. This year’s event set new records by raising over $10 million from 7,266 participants and more than 43,000 donations globally (https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/eaglesautismfoundation/). Since its launch in 2018, more than $40 million has been raised via over 202,300 donations.
Fans can continue to support these initiatives through activities like the Eagles World Championship Ring Sweepstakes at Prizeo.com/EaglesRing. Donations start at $10 for 100 entries; higher contribution levels provide additional incentives such as photos with the Lombardi Trophy or autographed items. All proceeds will benefit the Eagles Autism Foundation.
The organization also runs All Abilities Clinics designed to make events accessible for individuals with special needs through features like smaller groups and visual schedules.
On the injury front, A.J. Brown (hamstring) returned as a limited participant after missing time. Elijah Cooks (shoulder), Kenyon Green (shoulder), Charley Hughlett (neck), Montrell Johnson (hamstring), and Byron Young (groin) did not participate in practice. Landon Dickerson suffered an undisclosed injury late in practice and was taken off the field on a cart.
