The Philadelphia Eagles secured a 33-26 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 of the NFL regular season, overcoming a 19-point deficit with a series of key plays in the second half.
The game began with linebacker Zack Baun intercepting Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford on the opening drive. The Eagles capitalized on this turnover, scoring first when Jalen Hurts ran for a touchdown after DeVonta Smith converted a third down and A.J. Brown drew a pass interference penalty to set up the score.
The Rams responded by scoring 16 unanswered points through a combination of field goals and a touchdown pass to Davante Adams. At halftime, Los Angeles led 19-7.
After halftime, the Rams extended their lead to 26-7 following a strip sack of Jalen Hurts and a quick touchdown pass to Kyren Williams. However, the Eagles then mounted their comeback. Hurts connected with A.J. Brown for 38 yards before finding Dallas Goedert for a 33-yard touchdown. On their next possession, Hurts led an 87-yard drive ending with A.J. Brown catching another touchdown pass, narrowing the gap to five points.
Defensive tackle Jordan Davis made several pivotal plays throughout the game. In addition to stopping a fourth-down run attempt by the Rams and pressuring Stafford into mistakes, Davis blocked two crucial field goal attempts late in the game. The first block by Jalen Carter kept Philadelphia within reach as time dwindled in the fourth quarter.
On their final offensive possession, Philadelphia took its first lead since early in the game when Hurts found DeVonta Smith for a four-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal after A.J. Brown made two key third-down conversions and Saquon Barkley picked up another important first down.
With less than two minutes remaining, Los Angeles attempted what could have been a game-winning field goal, but Jordan Davis blocked it and returned it for a touchdown as time expired, sealing Philadelphia’s win and improving their record to 3-0.
A.J. Brown was instrumental during critical moments, making significant catches including two third-and-long conversions on what became the go-ahead drive. DeVonta Smith finished with eight receptions for 60 yards and caught what proved to be the decisive score.
Rookie wide receiver Darius Cooper left with a shoulder injury and did not return; right tackle Lane Johnson also exited due to injury but was replaced by Matt Pryor.
Philadelphia will travel next week to face Tampa Bay, who remains undefeated so far this season.
