The Philadelphia Eagles ended their preseason with a 19-17 victory over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. The game saw the Eagles take an early lead and maintain it through key plays on both offense and defense, despite a late push from the Jets.

In the first quarter, kicker Jake Elliott put the Eagles ahead with a 51-yard field goal. Quarterback Kyle McCord contributed to the drive with a 19-yard completion to Kylen Granson on third down. Defensive back Parry Nickerson intercepted a pass from Jets quarterback Brady Cook, giving Philadelphia good field position.

Elliott added another field goal in the second quarter, this time from 53 yards out, following Nickerson’s interception. The Jets responded with a field goal just before halftime, narrowing the score to 6-3.

The Eagles extended their lead in the third quarter when running back Montrell Johnson scored on a 15-yard run after a missed Jets field goal. Rookie Antwaun Powell-Ryland made an impact with a strip sack of Jets quarterback Adrian Martinez, setting up another scoring opportunity for Philadelphia. Elliott capitalized by making his third field goal of the night from 23 yards out. Safety Lewis Cine then intercepted another pass for Philadelphia.

In the fourth quarter, Elliott hit his fourth field goal of the game from 45 yards, increasing the Eagles’ lead to 19-3. The Jets responded with two touchdowns in the final period but failed on a crucial two-point conversion attempt after linebacker Dallas Gant stopped running back Donovan Edwards near the goal line.

Jake Elliott was noted for his performance, making all four of his attempts including two kicks over 50 yards. Parry Nickerson contributed an interception and strong coverage throughout the game. Lewis Cine also stood out defensively with his diving interception late in the third quarter.

With preseason complete, the Eagles will reduce their roster to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon before preparing for their regular season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on September 4.
