The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed long snapper Charley Hughlett to their practice squad. The move comes after Hughlett was waived by the team earlier in the week and subsequently cleared waivers, making him eligible to return.
Hughlett played as the team’s long snapper in seven games this season, all resulting in wins for the Eagles. He originally signed a one-year contract during the offseason and served as the starting long snapper for the first four games before being placed on Injured Reserve due to an abdominal injury. After recovering, he returned for the last three games of the season.
Before joining Philadelphia, Hughlett spent ten seasons with the Cleveland Browns, where he also held the role of team captain.
In Sunday’s victory over the Buffalo Bills, Hughlett was responsible for snapping during Jake Elliott’s two field goals and extra point attempt. This performance allowed Elliott to become just the second player in franchise history to surpass 1,000 career points. Punter Braden Mann averaged 55.4 yards on seven punts during that game.
