Tight end Dallas Goedert returned to practice for the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday after missing time due to a knee injury sustained during the game against the Dallas Cowboys. Goedert described his return, stating, “Got out there again. Felt really good,” and added, “Still taking it day by day, but we’ll see how it feels (Thursday).” Although he was limited in practice, Goedert recounted that he injured his knee while making a catch over the middle early in the second half of the Dallas game. He finished that game with seven receptions for 44 yards and played with a brace on his knee.
Goedert also discussed missing last week’s game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. “It was really tough. I’ve never played at Arrowhead,” Goedert said. “I was glad I got to go this time. The atmosphere was great. They were able to get the job done, but that would have been a lot of fun to play in that game.”
Running back Will Shipley did not participate in Wednesday’s practice as he continues to recover from an oblique injury suffered in Week 1 against the Cowboys. Shipley also missed all practices leading up to last week’s matchup with Kansas City.
Defensive tackle Jalen Carter was listed as limited due to a shoulder injury. Carter had previously appeared on the injury report with a shoulder issue before Week 1 but participated fully leading up to that contest.
Quarterback Tanner McKee, who served as emergency third quarterback during Sunday’s game in Kansas City, was limited in Wednesday’s session because of a right thumb injury.
For the Los Angeles Rams, starting cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon will miss Sunday’s matchup after being placed on Injured Reserve with a broken clavicle suffered during their game against Tennessee. Following Witherspoon’s exit, Emmanuel Forbes moved positions and Cobie Durant entered from the bench while Darious Williams rotated into play during the second half.
Rams head coach Sean McVay provided an update on left guard Steve Avila’s status following an ankle injury: Avila is making progress but remains “week to week” and did not practice Wednesday; Justin Dedich started in his place last weekend.
Defensive end Braden Fiske missed practice after sustaining an oblique injury prior to Sunday’s game and played only 13 snaps against Tennessee. Tight end Colby Parkinson also remained limited due to a shoulder problem.
Other Rams players who did not participate included wide receiver Davante Adams and offensive lineman Rob Havenstein, both listed as resting.
