The Philadelphia Eagles have opened the practice window for outside linebacker Nolan Smith as they prepare for their upcoming Monday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers. Smith had been placed on Injured Reserve following a triceps injury sustained after the team’s victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Smith, who was selected in the first round of the 2023 draft, made a significant impact late last season, recording 4.5 sacks during the playoffs. In his three appearances this year, he has registered eight pressures, forced one fumble, and tallied ten tackles.
Alongside this roster move, the Eagles released outside linebacker Patrick Johnson from their active roster and wide receiver Terrace Marshall from the practice squad. Johnson joined Philadelphia’s active roster after Week 1 of this season. He achieved his first career sack and recorded five tackles during his time with the team. Marshall, previously a second-round pick, participated in Training Camp with Philadelphia and had been part of the organization since late August.
Since Smith was placed on IR, there have been several changes to the edge rusher group for Philadelphia. Za’Darius Smith retired while Brandon Graham came out of retirement. Additionally, Jaelan Phillips was acquired from the Miami Dolphins. With Nolan Smith’s return to practice, current edge rushers for the Eagles include Jalyx Hunt, Brandon Graham, Jaelan Phillips, Joshua Uche, and Smith himself.
