The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft with eight picks, starting with the No. 23 overall selection, according to an April 20 announcement. The team is considering several options based on mock drafts from national experts.
The draft holds significance for the Eagles as they look to address both immediate and future needs on their roster. With quarterback Jalen Hurts having been sacked frequently over the past two seasons, reinforcing the offensive line appears to be a priority.
Several analysts have linked wide receivers and offensive linemen to the Eagles’ first-round pick. Nate Davis of USA Today said, “Boston (6-4, 212) is [a] supersized red-zone target (20 TD catches since 2024) and boundary receiver,” referring to Denzel Boston from Washington. Chad Reuter of NFL Network described Omar Cooper Jr., wide receiver from Indiana: “Cooper’s strength, speed and elite body control should allow him to make a smooth transition to the Eagles’ offense as a rookie.” Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today commented on Max Iheanachor: “Lane Johnson would make a fine mentor to Iheanachor, a former basketball standout who could become an outright force up front if he continues along his impressive growth trajectory.” Jordan Reid of ESPN added that general manager Howie Roseman often drafts replacements in advance: “Iheanachor won’t be ready to start right away… but he has unlimited potential and would have time to develop in Philadelphia.”
Blake Miller of Clemson is another name mentioned by Eric Edholm of NFL Network: “Miller checks a lot of boxes with his size (6-foot-6 3/4, 317 pounds) and experience (54 college starts), and the Eagles have to continue reinforcing their offensive line.” Jaime Eisner & Frankie Taddeo from Draft Network highlighted Miller’s durability: “Blake Miller showed immense durability… setting the school record in snaps (3,778). The Eagles are favored at odds of +115 to go offensive line with their first-round selection after witnessing star QB Jalen Hurts being sacked a whopping 79 times over the last two seasons.” Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN said, “The Eagles don’t typically let future needs become current problems… Roseman is tactful in how he keeps the roster stocked with depth and future replacements.”
Other possibilities include T.J. Parker (EDGE) as suggested by Tom Fornelli from CBS Sports: “This team’s best days came when it had roughly a trillion defensive linemen… so they add another one here,” Kadyn Proctor (OT/G) noted by Dane Brugler at The Athletic as providing both immediate competition at guard and long-term plans behind Lane Johnson; Jordyn Tyson was also considered by Mike Band at Next Gen Stats due to his potential value despite medical risks.
The Eagles operate as a professional American football team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania according to their official website. They entered the National Football League in 1933 according to their official website and provide professional football games along with news coverage, media content, ticketing services, and fan engagement opportunities according to their official website. Their cultural influence extends beyond Philadelphia through games broadcast nationally and widespread merchandising efforts according to their official website.
As draft week progresses, fans await which direction general manager Howie Roseman will take for this year’s first-round pick.
