University of Pennsylvania freshman center Dalton Scantlebury has been named Rookie of the Week by both the Ivy League and Philadelphia Big 5 in men’s basketball. This is the second time in three weeks that Scantlebury has received both honors.

Scantlebury was recognized for his performance during Penn’s 74-72 victory over Lafayette on December 8 at The Palestra. He scored 14 points, collected three rebounds, recorded a steal, and blocked a shot. He made six out of nine field goal attempts and converted two of his three free throws. This game marked the third time this season that he has scored in double figures.

The Penn men’s basketball team currently holds a record of 6-4 and is taking a break for fall-term exams. The team will resume play on Saturday with an away game against Rutgers, which will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m.
