Congressman Brendan Boyle secured $1.5 million in federal funding for the Philadelphia Healthy and Safe Schools program, or PHASeS, according to an April 10 announcement. The initiative is a trauma-informed schools program facilitated and partially funded by Temple University on five School District of Philadelphia campuses.

The new funding will be used to strengthen access to important mental and behavioral health resources for students. This move comes as schools across the country are increasingly focused on addressing student well-being and safety.

Media outlets including PHL17, CBS News Philadelphia, and FOX29 reported on the news, underscoring its significance for local communities.

PHASeS aims to provide support that addresses trauma among students by offering services directly within school environments. With Temple University’s involvement in both facilitating and supporting the initiative financially, the partnership seeks to create safer learning spaces through increased mental health resources.

The additional funds are expected to help further develop these services across participating campuses in the School District of Philadelphia.
