Andrew Painter, a right-handed pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, delivered five scoreless innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in his latest start. The 22-year-old struck out six batters and did not allow any walks, marking the first time in eight starts he has accomplished that. Painter retired 10 of the last 11 hitters he faced and completed his first scoreless outing since June 15.
Painter’s performance comes after a period of inconsistency at Triple-A, where he had allowed five or more runs in four of his previous six starts.
Elsewhere across Minor League Baseball, Joe Mack (Marlins) reached his 20th home run with a walk-off homer for Triple-A Jacksonville. Konnor Griffin (Pirates) hit his 21st home run and drove in four runs for Double-A Altoona, while Brice Matthews (Astros) hit his first professional grand slam for Sugar Land.
Trey Yesavage (Blue Jays), Brody Hopkins (Rays), George Klassen (Angels), and Ben Hess (Yankees) also recorded strong pitching performances during recent games.
